SHELBY, WHAT A DISGRACE YOU ARE AS AN AMERICAN. FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS FED AT THE PUBLIC TROUGH FOR SO LONG, WHAT A LOT OF NERVE YOU HAVE. I HAVE A FEELING YOU HAVE DONE MORE DAMAGE TO THE STATE OF ALABAMA THAN YOU REALIZE. I THINK YOU ARE A POMPOUS, OUT-OF-TOUCH OLD MAN. YOU HAVE SOLD ALABAMA TO THE FOREIGN COUNTRIES, AND IT WILL PROBABLY COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU.

  2. Vicki Leberg says:

Sir– What a disservice you have done to The United States of America. It is a total disgrace to play the political card at this crucial time. I am not saying for a second that we have not had 8 years of this already from your opposing party, but this is not the time for pay backs. If you want to pay back, rise above this and get this bill passed. It will affect AL and every other state if you do not. Do the honorable thing. The suppliers who supply your precious foriegn based auto industry are intimately tied to the US based auto ndustry. YOU WILL BE IMPACTED BY YOUR ACTION.

  3. Doug Hagerty says:

RIGHT ON SANDRA….SHELBY SHOW ALL OF AMERICA WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR CONGRESS AND SENATE AND WHY THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS LOST IT’S “TRUST” IN THEM……………….

  4. Sharon Hill says:

Shelby just to let you know because apparently you don’t. GM has done more for the American people than you can imagine or will ever care to know. But not only GM, Ford and Chrysler also. You sit high and look low and have swam in your sea of privilege for far to long. They have afforded average citizens to live the American dream. You know, the one you enjoy everyday.

  5. E.M.Funk says:

    Sen. Shelby,
It is obvious that you have been out of the business world for too long, you have lost touch with the people who pay the taxes for your seat in Congress. Have you not investigated the domino effect of what will happen to the many businesses that depend on the American auto companies, even in the great state of Alabama? Honda relies on Auto suppliers too!

  6. Jeff Stella says:

We are asking the Republicans to evaluate the cost of the US Government and as a part of their plan immediately reduce our elected representatives pay and benefits to be comparable to other countries” elected officials — if your proposed approach for the Auto Industry is the right way to go. Or…. we should ask you to reduce your pay to $1.00 per year or less until you resolve the Financial Crisis and Federal Deficit.

  7. Anne Liimatta says:

I heard about this email opportunity on Detroit talk radio this morning – I don’t exactly know to whom I am writing, but by the tone of these preceding comments, I believe you must be one of the Republican senators who stood up for some good common sense and American patriotism. The car industry is the last big production industry we have in this country! Steel is gone, clothing is gone, shoes are gone, electronics are largely gone, nuclear reactors are gone….etc. So the Big 3 have made mistakes and been saddled with union contracts as well as gov. regulations over the last generation that have finally caught up with reality…they aren’t the only ones! Those companies will be asking next! Decisions and consequences – it’s what the free market is all about! The last thing GM and Chrysler need to do now is submit to the powers that have caused their downfall…government control! What are we thinking!!! The home of the free and the brave can make it thru this without a socialist takeover, but only if it still has enough will left. Work, pay, eat – the only way to get out of it. Forget the frozen credit! Slash all the car prices in half and then watch the lines at the dealerships! The lots will start to empty and the lines will start to roll again. Let the car companies run the car companies – give the employees ownership stake, like Japan, and they will learn how to tighten their belts in the slow times, save money in the fast times and return to the good old-fashioned values of our forefathers. If people had been saving the last 10 years instead of playing with their money they would have something to fall back on during this difficult time. Money and materialism is not where it’s at. They have become the new gods of America and they are a foundation of sand that is now shifting in the storm. Let the house come down if it must and we will start building again on something reasonable. Big companies have gobbled up all the competition – let us start over again with small business – renew the entreprenurial spirit. Quit the dole and people will have to work together again and be creative. Most of all, we shouldn’t be afraid – we can’t allow ourselves to get boxed into any stop-gap measures that will do nothing but make matters worse by increasing our atrocious national debt. Thank you for fighting! Thank you for being patriots! I believe prayers on behalf of this country and it’s future are being answered thru your acts of courage! I am soooooo proud of you and the Republican senators who stood up to the bill and derailed this plan for more loans and printing of paper! Too bad you were not able to stop the $750 billion slush fund to the Federal Reserve!! You sure tried!

In closing, no more spending what we don’t have!!! Keep up the good work – God’s will be done, regardless of the final outcome!

  8. BOB ELLIS says:

GOOD JOB SENETOR.. ALL THIS IS , IS MONEY FOR THE UAW..TO STAY IN BUSINESS…WHY DON, T THE UAW FILE CHAPTER 11.

  9. Mary Reed says:

You are such a hypocrite. You had better think twice before voting with the Dems on this spending bill just because you want your pork. You are fat enough.

We are the people,I think he needs to be stopped,he has a hidden agenda! he needs to resign! Do you know who wrote the stimulus bill? Did you know that he has given the gaza stip 900 million the year to rebuild? We don’t have money like that to give to people that will use the money to support terror, shoot rockets at Isaerl ! We need to look at his actions,is he trying to destry America? He has spent more money that any other president! What is going on in the white house? Don’t other people see what is going on? Now he has put a special group to watch the F.B.I. and the C.I.A.,He is working to bring change to America like we don’t want! Our government can’t let this guy take our conistion away from us,he is a dicator, not American,he is a musulim, not a christian! 14. Loan Guy says:

Hello, maybe our post may be off topic but anyways, I have gone surfing around your weblog and it appears extremely elegant. It is obvious that you know the subject and you seem passionate about it. I’m constructing a new weblog plus I am struggling to make it look great, plus present the best writing. I’ve acquired a good deal visiting your site and also I anticipate much more articles and will be returning soon. Thanks.

  15. Lois a Fitzgerald says:

Unhold Obama’s nominees. What gives you the right to interfere with the president’s constitutional right to appoint advisors?

  16. Pamela says:

DON’T RELEASE YOUR HOLD ON OBOMA’S NOMINEES!!! Anything you can do that will slow that traitors agenda to destroy the USA is a good thing. More and more people are becoming aware of just how devious and distructive this man is. Heaven help us if he contunues at the rate he started. Even some of his cronies in the media are starting to have second thoughts. Keep up the good work. Oh! and get the pork out of your legislation.

  17. Renee Luedtke says:

HOW DO YOU LIKE TOYOTA NOW? When they need help because of the mess they have made and the disregard of the people who buy these cars, are you going to say the same thing as you did about GM & Chrysler? I bet not!! I am one of those people who was living the American dream (and not beyond our means) because of GM and you didn’t give a flying fig about any of us. I am sure you will not feel the same when people in your state (I know you have a Toyota plant) start losing their jobs. I think you have been in D.C way too long and think it’s time to retire. I feel you have stopped thinking about the American people and think about what is good for you!
